School Meals & Food

School Meals
Your child can have a hot school meal every day in school. All food is prepared in our brand new on-site kitchen.

Please contact the school office if you wish to sign your child up to have hot meals.

All school meals are halal only.

Free School Meals (Hot meals)
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to receive a hot school meal, free of charge, every day.

For Years 3, 4 5 and 6 - If you receive certain benefits, or have been entitled to Free School Meals in the past 6 years, the school may be able to receive additional funding to support your child’s education (Pupil Premium) and you may be entitled to Free School Meals in Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6).

Even if your child is in Reception or Year 1 or 2, it is important that you still apply for Free School Meals.

Please ask at the school office for further details, or you can apply online at https://www.leicester.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/grants-and-allowances/free-school-meals/

Allergy Information
No nuts are allowed in the school due to allergies. All meat served in the kitchen is halal.

Milk
If you wish your child to have milk in school every day, you will need to register with Cool Milk, either online or by post. Children under five receive free milk, as do all children entitled to Free School Meals – but parents still need to register with Cool Milk for this to happen. If you have any questions about school milk please visit  their website at www.coolmilk.com or contact them by phone 0800 1422972. Alternatively you can speak with the school office.

Drinks
Children should bring a bottle of water to school every day. Please ensure your child’s bottle only contains water.

Water is also provided in the dining hall at lunch time for all children

Packed Lunches
You may choose to send your child with a packed lunch. Please see the "Packed With Health" information on the right of this page about packing a healthy lunch for your child.

We work with Leicestershire Nutrition and Dietetic Services to support children and families to eat healthily at school.

Morning Snacks
Children in Years 1-6 may bring their own snack to eat at break time. This must be a healthy snack such as fruit or a cereal bar. Children may not bring chocolate or crisps to eat at break time.

Below is a welcome letter from Caterlink, our meal provider.

The school menu is sent to all parents via School Gateway.
